Decorating with Tuscan Colors

Decoration: colors

In the contemporary world of today one needs to make sure that the decoration is done to suit the requirements of the area. It is very important that a person chooses the things he needs to decorate very properly. It is important that the decoration is looked after keeping the color combinations in the mind. It is the requirement of every place that the color combination is matched.

Colors: Tuscan style

In Tuscan style decorating, we are able to reflect our passion for that connection to the earth and to what is real. It's basically inspired from the Italian town Tuscany.

The basic color palette comes from the landscape and agriculture. The main colors used in Tuscan decorating are earthy tones like terracotta, olive green, deep browns as well as blues and gold which basically are used to bring to mind bright sunny days under clear skies of Italy. These colors reflect the beauty of the countryside.

In many instances these colors are made to look weathered or are muted so that in some way they create an atmosphere of timeless beauty, like the feeling of comfort and familiarity that an old Tuscan villa might evoke and how it generally is. Instead of the brightest pinks, subtle apricot color is used. Instead of electric blues, the color used will be the soft blues of the Mediterranean or the purples of springtime lavender.

Shades of Tuscany

Intense shades of russet and chocolate are abundantly used with prominent amounts of terra cotta. Terra cotta reds and oranges are the most important shades. Terra cotta is used as a neutral shade. Walls painted with a shade of terra cotta which set the stage for Tuscan decorating.

Most often these colors are combined with textures. Walls in Tuscany are generally hand plastered and have a look and feel that is unique to this part of the world. The hand plastered texture gives a Tuscan feel but it is expensive. Faux finishing techniques are a cheaper alternative.

Colors cannot be played around with, the need is to be using the color the way it can be best suited. It is very essential that the color goes with the room texture, environment, atmosphere, the requirement and so on.
