Old Tuscan Decor

Sun-drenched days under the Tuscan sky and pasta and wine under olive trees to the sound of the courtyard fountain. Sounds wonderful isn't it? Yes! But if a move to Tuscany isn't in your future, you can bring that warm Tuscan feel to your home by using the old Tuscan decor.

The following points characterize an old Tuscan decor:

  • Color and texture with rich, earthy reds and oranges is an important aspect. Terracotta and olive greens enhance the effect.

  • Copper pots and copper trimmed baskets are still found in Tuscany shops. Dried flowers, artificial fruit and ivy to fill the pots and baskets call for a taste of an Italian vineyard.

  • Terracotta pots and lots of them. Fill them with greenery like a few artificial grapes to create an old Tuscan feel. They should be arranged them in groups of three or more.

  • Old iron gates, windows or bits of railing can create rustic wall art for the old Tuscan decor.

  • Use of Iron wire on doors and cabinet doors. Not only is it decorative but also cheap.

  • A visual sense of old Tuscan decor can be created with tall artificial plants and a wrought iron archway to separate a special, intimate corner of the room.

  • Mismatched ceramic and terracotta tiles can be arranged as a group on the wall or table. They can be used as coasters or trivets or they can be broken and used to make a mosaic table top. This creates a classic Tuscany effect.

  • Old picture frames with strips of leather.

  • The old wrought iron accessories of the 60s make wonderful additions to your old Tuscan decor.

  • To create the feeling of a courtyard indoors, a fountain can be installed. A terracotta or stone-look fountain in the corner surrounded by plants and a small wrought iron table is a wonderful place to have breakfast. It's almost like being in Italy and a classic visual effect to the decor.

Go and experiment with your decor these points will help you create a perfect 10 in old Tuscan decor!!
